Today Nightingale Housing announced our new partnership with Melbourne-based eBike provider Lug+Carrie.
Through the partnership, Nightingale residents in Lug+Carrie operating areas in Melbourne and Sydney will receive a discounted subscription to trial the service. Lug+Carrie will hold local community events where residents can take bikes for a test ride.
Lug+Carrie co-founder Ben Carr says of the partnership, “We believe that making bike-riding more accessible is a crucial factor in creating sustainable and liveable cities. We’re pleased to partner with Nightingale to help spread this message in urban areas, where cycling is an easy, practical option.”
Nightingale Housing CEO Dan McKenna said that the partnership is a fantastic way to encourage the use of green transport, which is a central sustainability principle within the Nightingale approach. “Nightingale supports residents to transition away from car ownership, by building on sites with good access to public transport, where local amenities are within easy walking or cycling distance. We also include generous bicycle parking in each building.
“There are many keen riders living in Nightingale communities, and we hope that our partnership with Lug+Carrie will encourage even more residents to get around on a bike.”
Since Lug+Carrie opened for business in 2020, more than 1,200 people have used their eBikes. The company operates a subscription model which includes delivery, at-home servicing and repairs, accessories, insurance and roadside assistance.
