Haymes Paint has joined the Nightingale family as our preferred paint partner. With more than 90 years of Australian-made paint expertise, Haymes Paint brings a long-standing commitment to quality, innovation and sustainability. Their focus on responsible manufacturing and lower-impact products, formulated in Australia for maximum durability in our often-harsh climate, aligns closely with Nightingale's values and supports the delivery of well-designed, sustainable and community-focused homes.
Together, this partnership will help ensure our homes remain beautiful, durable and environmentally considered, while strengthening Australian manufacturing and fostering meaningful industry collaboration. We're excited to continue bringing this partnership to life across current and future Nightingale projects.

Nightingale welcomed Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan and Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny to the rooftop of Nightingale Wurru wurru biik in Brunswick.
The visit coincided with the Victorian Government’s announcement of changes to key activity centres aimed at increasing housing supply across Victoria and delivering more homes in well-connected urban areas.
Nightingale Founder Jeremy McLeod and Head of Community Toby Dean shared insights into what well-designed apartments can achieve when they prioritise community, sustainability, access to public transport, and proximity to green open space.
As Melbourne continues to grow, Nightingale Housing remains committed to delivering sustainable, community-focused housing that supports connected, resilient and thriving neighbourhoods across Victoria.

Minister for Development Victoria and Precincts Harriet Shing has announced that Nightingale Housing has been selected to deliver 70 sustainable terrace homes in Alphington, Melbourne’s north, on a former rail spur site, including seven homes for Community Housing Providers. Marking Nightingale’s first project in the area, the development will transform under-utilised land into energy-efficient, community-focused housing close to public transport, local services and parklands. Designed by Breathe in collaboration with Development Victoria and Women's Property Initiatives, the project will offer a mix of small-footprint and three-bedroom terrace homes delivered under Nightingale’s principles of social, environmental and financial sustainability, with shared communal spaces and a new pedestrian link to strengthen connection within the precinct. Homes will be allocated via Nightingale’s transparent ballot process, with information sessions and ballot timing to be announced.

January 26 is a day of reflection, not celebration. For many First Nations people, it marks the beginning of invasion and ongoing injustice.
January 26 offers an opportunity to listen, learn, and stand in solidarity with First Nations communities. Across the country, there are respectful events, gatherings, and online actions that centre Indigenous voices and experiences, inviting all of us to reflect on our shared history and consider what justice and healing can look like moving forward.
There are many meaningful ways to show solidarity today and beyond:

We’re delighted to announce that Schoolhouse Studios is bringing new affordable artist studios to Nightingale Wurru wurru biik in Brunswick.
Already a favourite in Coburg, Schoolhouse Studios is expanding to support more local creatives with small-footprint spaces designed for making and collaboration.
The Brunswick fit-out is being built with repurposed materials, pine and saveboard donated by the National Gallery of Victoria after their use in Breathe’s Home Truth exhibition. This creative reuse keeps valuable resources out of landfill while giving them a second life.
We had a sneak peek during construction and can’t wait to see the new Brunswick studios buzzing with artists soon. Watch this space.

Future residents of Nightingale Umarkoo Wayi, Nightingale Housing’s latest sustainable housing project in Coburg, gathered recentlyto connect and see the progress of their new homes.
In line with Nightingale’s mission to reduce car dependency and promote low-impact lifestyles, the team from Lug+Carrie brought along a fleet of eBikes for residents to try. The test rides highlighted how eBikes can be a fun, practical and sustainable transport option, especially in a well-connected neighbourhood like Sydney Road, Coburg.
Resident gatherings like this are a cornerstone of the Nightingale approach. They give neighbours the opportunity to meet and form connections while their apartments are still under construction. By the time move-in day arrives, a strong sense of community is already established, creating not just housing but a supportive, connected place to live.

In August, the ground floor of Nightingale Wurru wurru biik came alive with the opening of Ernesto Pees on Tings, a photographic exhibition celebrating the quirky, heartfelt, and sometimes cryptic messages Ernesto has left across Brunswick and beyond. Read on.
