Our partnership with Aboriginal Housing Victoria.

Dec 21, 2023

More First Nations Victorians will have the opportunity to be housed in a Nightingale home following today’s landmark agreement with our newest housing partner, Aboriginal Housing Victoria (AHV). As the largest non-government Aboriginal housing organisation in Australia, AHV is dedicated to providing culturally safe, affordable, and secure housing to over 4,000 low-income Aboriginal Victorians.

At Nightingale Housing, we recognise the importance of the Traditional Custodians and Owners of the Lands on which we build and work. We pre-allocate up to 20% of each project to registered community housing providers, like AHV, as a practical demonstration of our commitment to addressing historical injustices.

Ensuring everyone has access to safe and secure housing is a core value for us. Collaborating with housing partners such as AHV allows us to offer long-term, affordable housing within Nightingale projects, particularly benefiting those who traditionally face barriers to secure housing.

Darren Smith, CEO of Aboriginal Housing Victoria, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We're delighted to be partnering with Nightingale Housing, who have a proven track record in delivering quality homes with engaged and connected communities - places that will support the wellbeing of our residents.”

Nightingale CEO, Dan McKenna, echoed this sentiment, saying, "We're looking forward to collaborating closely with AHV to increase the availability of quality housing to First Nations Victorians, which will significantly strengthen our community housing offering – a key pillar of the work we do at Nightingale."

This collaboration signifies our shared commitment to delivering quality homes and fostering connected, supportive communities. We are excited about the positive impact this partnership will have on expanding the availability of quality housing for First Nations Victorians.
